Work with a Legal Team Who Truly Cares

Happy Fourth of July!

Posted in

It is finally here – a holiday we all love. On the Fourth of July, we get to gather with our friends and family to enjoy the warm summer sun, grill out, enjoy some drinks, watch beautiful fireworks, and of course celebrate our independence.

With all this excitement and celebration comes extreme risk as well. The Grover Law Firm wants to remind you of some safety tips to keep in mind this holiday weekend.

The National Council on Fireworks Safety posted a helpful checklist. Below we shared the list with you and added some of our own tips.

Safety Tips:

Read and obey all local rules and laws regarding fireworks.

Know what fireworks you are buying and using; read all the labels and follow the directions and safety tips on the labels.

Make sure a responsible, sober adult is supervising all firework activities. Children should not be lighting fireworks.

Wait to drink alcohol until after you light fireworks. If you started drinking earlier than the fireworks show, you should just be an observer, enjoy the show, and leave the lighting to your sober, adult friends and family.

When lighting fireworks, only light one at a time. After lighting one, move quickly away from the firework and make sure you move a safe distance away. You can never know when a firework could explode in the wrong direction.

You should only light fireworks outside, away from buildings, vehicles, and people.

Have a hose, bucket of water, and a fire extinguisher ready to go. Tell everyone in your group where to locate these items in case of emergency.

Never relight a dud firework. If you light a dud firework, leave it alone for 20 minutes, and then put it in a bucket of water and let it soak.

Never carry fireworks in your pocket.

Never shoot fireworks into metal or glass containers.

Do not experiment with homemade fireworks.

Dispose of spent fireworks by wetting them down and place in a metal trash can away from any building or combustible materials until the next day.

Report illegal explosives, like M-80s and quarter sticks, to the fire or police department.

Do not drink and drive.

The Fourth of July is a big drinking holiday. Do not get behind the wheel if you have been drinking. There are a lot of people going from their friends’ or families’ houses and parties. Kids are out in the streets. Do not cause an accident, injury, of take someone’s life with this mistake. However, if you find yourself in this situation, call Grover Law Firm.

If you are Injured this holiday weekend, call an attorney.

On behalf of the entire team at Grover Law Firm, have a fun and safe holiday weekend!
